I tried my best to attend the DC Rally, but sorry to say that I'm missing a great event. I'm trying to make it up by contributing a very small amount to DC Rally.($ 200 - Google Order #703505280174212 ).
I appreciate all the selfless efforts put in by all the members of this group.

Funds are really needed but another important thing is to leverage the momentum obtained due to CIR and more recently July Visa fiasco.
I think iV should aggressively focus on recapture of visas, 1 visa per family(Hillary Clinton already supports us on this and we can rope in Zoe loe****
who supported us now) and also removing country based limit.
Momentum is very important and now is the time to restart and I m sure funds ll flow. Removing country based quota is the easiest one to target first.

I am not sure how porting works. I heard in some cases they will be ported automatically and in some cases we (attorney) have to request for porting. I will talk to my attorney and post the information here as I get it.

you need to stop getting answers from others and solve this problem amicably with you wife. There is nothing better than a one-one discussion with her.
Marrying is like buying a company, you have a moral obligation to account for any liabilities she may have.
Understand, she may have been the sole income earner in India for her parents. It doesnot hurt for you to send say 200-300 dollars every month. 700 dollars every month from your check is not that big deal (350 for each family). Don't make it a long term solution.
You have filed 485, what stops your wife from getting a job here?? Does she want to stay at home, watch TV and enjoy life? if she thinks that way, let her know, if she wants to send money to her parents long term, she needs to get out of house, find a job
Your wife should also have the heart to not burden you with financial requests. If she can get a job here, she should. If she earns money, its her's and its upto her how she spends that. If you can afford to tell her that, do it.

yabadaba, we will always have tough opposition when we try to do something. Your op-ed was very good and some people could not swallow it. You know some people can't imagine anyone from your country having good english! All these media efforts help us raise awareness, send our message across to the masses to counter anti immigrant propaganda. Due to our press coverage lawmaker offices too have started to take us seriously. Thanks to you and other IV members that are constantly helping this organization in media efforts, whether it is as small as writing emails, getting interviewed or writing articles. All these media successes are on zero budget. All IV members are our PR agents and PR firms.Thanks.

I think we will see a renewed activity on IV forums in 2009. I still believe visa recapture bill like HR5882 has a good chance of getting passed. It may not get passed in this congress considering how few working days are left and presidential elections in November. But in 2009 the bill should gain new momentum with new congress and new president in office.
Also, by that time EB2 dates will be again retrogressed and those impatiently waiting for their approvals today will be back to support new action items. Please don't take this as spiteful wish against EB2, I'm EB2 myself! Just that I don't think everyone who is current now will get their GC before October 2008. For once I would be overjoyed if I'm wrong on this one :)
True, once the people realize that they are close to GC they forget all tasks and move on to the other forums (R2I or USC or whatever) there are very few who actually stay on and help add this to the fact that most of the EB3-I's got fed up with the nonsense going on (most were only looking for a sounding board to voice their dismay, instead they were reminded of the caste system). So EB2's stop working because their PD is current and EBs stop because there is little hope/chance/help. We can dissect the VB as much as we want, the fact of the matter is that EB3 as a whole and EB3 (india &China) in particular are screwed big time. There is hope in the Logfren bills but the congress seems to have other 'important' issues to discuss.
We should take the campaign to a new level move from individuals to involving groups and compaines. They have more money and power to make things move. EB3 & EB2 discussions will go on for ever, we can either decide to wallow in our sorrow or do something. Lets identify groups who can help us and write to them. Each EB should talk to his/her HR and ask them to write a letter to their congressman/Senator it will have a bigger impact.
