Looks like the Congressman's (Rep. Lamar Smith) office is getting bogged down by the calls.
I walked around my office and asked every colleague I met to make the call. The last 5 people who called, the person answering the phone rudely asked them to call the local Congressman's office instead of the Representative's office. He did not take any information nor did it look like he was making a note of the call.
Any pointers, information as to what may be happening?
I am not sure about the rude part. All the posts in the 12 pages have actually appreciated the patience of the caller.

(3) Rep smith championed high skill bills in the past and these are common sense measures that will increase American competitiveness

Rally agenda - from the start, the D.C rally has not seemed need-based rally. San Jose rally and flower campaign were need-based. They were needed because USCIS ditched all July hopefuls. We were aghast and speech-less. So there was that burning-sensation in our tummies that took us to streets and greet the USCIS chief with bloody flowers!!
i guess you need durbin grassley to return before the "burning feeling" is back. never fear, it's just waiting....btw were you in san jose? when have you been on the streets? who is "us"?
D.C rally has been strategic one. Somewhere in the beginning of the game, we pushed wrong buttons in marketing/selling the strategy or signing up people for the D.C rally. I remember very very few messages on the rally forums and tons and 100s of messages on "July 2" forum.

All senior fellows and the 1000+ members who made it to rally - have you surprised why there is NO 5000 - 10000 attendance.
the registration was actually 2,000. and no we are not surprised. the sheer apathy of those that would benefit from this action and the obsession with receipt notices made it quite clear we were never going too exceed this number. we know that their are many like you here that want us to come to your house with a begging bowl so you can associate handles with real people without lifting a little finger yourself.
thankfully there are 2,000 others that know they are doing this for themselves .

and? would you like my ss no? those who came to DC have solved this problem. others solved it long ago by getting involved and taking responsibility and sharing burden. it's yours to deal with now.

there is a core team, and there are iv- chapter leaders. join your state chapter if you can drag yourself of the tracking threads and meet the leaders. i got to know real people because i pm'd them then e mailed them and called them, set up a state chapter and met them...
nobody is going to put food in your mouth just because it is open. we are volunteers who give up a lot to keep iv going. we too have commitments at home and work. and they are as important as yours. the only difference is that our sense of self importance is a little less...

this is hilarious. aman kapoor the visible founder and leader got his green card just recently. and he is not the only prominent or visible leader to have got it. what does green card processing have to do with exercising your rights to petition government? did you read what siskind and murthy wrote? would they ask their clients to jeopardize their futures? for the record, the 485 asks what organization you are a member of- and i am a member of iv- and i wrote that.
it's a legal, registered non profit org. what's to be ashamed/petrified of?

there are clearly many people with very genuine reasons for not being in DC. and that will always happen with any action. but we are 23,000+ strong. and you are benefiting from our actions per your own words. yet you lurk on tracking threads and then wonder why there are more posts there then on rally threads? wow...rocket science for the highly skilled!

Does the SKIL bill only needs to pass in the House? Since it is already in the CIR , does it mean it has already passed in the senate? How is it going to work?

Now it's clear. You don't want people to drag you down, even when they have had gone through everything, Labor, I-140, been in the country for 10 years, etc. -- I thought you had a noble cause from the older posts, but apparently I was wrong.
This also started getting ridiculous. In my own post, and agreed by almost everyone else, I specially said to put on restrictions to those who can file AOS, e.g. with I-1140 approved, or with a PD older than a certain number of years. Where did you get the impression that every H1 can arrive this country and be on EAD in six months? Why did I found that the extreme generalization and scare tactic employed by you has an alarming resemblance to those from Lou Dobbs and Grassley?
And to answer your last question, even with a PD of 2007, I've been in the US for ten years, but could not file green card due to company bankruptcy, layoff, etc. and I am 90% certain you've been here shorter than I am. Then should give up your EAD till everyone who stays here longer than you does?

I am with you on the ludacris comparison brought by hydboy77. He keeps calling the EB3-EB2 porting line cutters as if these guys were paying 10,000 USD to buy substitute labors. Those Eb-3 folks have stood in line just like him, you and me and have an employer who values their contributions and has a position that has EB-2 requirements he can hire this EB-3 guy. Rather than thinking about the problem at its root, he keeps attacking people who port their PD and calls them line cutters. Bottome line: He has EB2 PD and worries that he will be screwed worse. While it is good to worry about the problem, it worries me when that worry comes at the expens of other's good. Jeez! we dont need anti's. We get dragged down by your own. Probably he does not know what USC code 1571 section 8 says even before AC21 came into picture. Congressional intent was to get a GC for every one with in 6 months. Infact he does not want every one to get EAD because he is scared. Doesn't a legislation that takes out the similar/same after 6 months and gets every one on to EAD is the best one as people will be able to demand what ever they want and put the kabosh on Grassley who keeps bitching that H1B's are paid peanuts?
I do not intend to take shots at any one but this discusssion of dont do this because Grassley will do this/that is nothing but shitting in our pants and telling Grassley to become draconian. As far as your pre application post is concerned, desi3933 is right on money. Janet,IMO, has used wrong words or meant some thing else and use pre application. With out, legislative/executive change USCIS/DHS/Janet just cannot do that.
His whole argument about the 06 guys getting GC ahead of 03/04 guys is entirely different. DOS had no other way to handle the inefficient USCIS other than forwarding dates ahead. I dont know whether he would have been happy, if DOS did not move dates and neither 04 guys and 06 guys got their GC, 20,000 visa numbers were wasted. I for one have a 02 PD and am happy for those who got out of the hell hole, regardless of their PD and at the same time I will keep pushing for USCIS to get better. I am actually seeing this effect in DOS VB this year. DOS is getting better at the game and moving the dates slowly and this summer EB-2 I/C will not go beyond Jun/Jul 05.

Despite a difficult year for immigration, there is movement of Bills for us.
The admin fixes campaign has also been successful. It is now a matter of time when administration chooses to make an announcement. We have been following up with them on regular intervals. The phase 2 of our campaign has also been going for past several weeks. Several state chapter members have traveled to DC and lobbied. Core has also traveled to DC to push for our provisions.
The latest good news is the bill on Recapture. IV has been on the front lines to announce all these developments and our lobbyists have been lobbying hard for us. All this effort costs money and thus we are starting a funding drive after a gap of 4 months so that we can continue this momentum. The more we can raise, the better we can lobby. We have a target to reach at least 50K in this funding drive so that IV can continue to be a voice of immigrants and take up their issues on the hill.

Your message............................ : I would never ever fly Air France, because I am a resident of India and your Airline treat Indians very badly, discriminating because of the country of citizenship and color. Shame on you for making 55 Indians wait in the airport for more then 12 hrs while the rest of passengers (non-indians) were arranged to go and stay in a hotel. Shame on you for ill treating the passengers in your Country (Paris, France). 1 less customer for you Air France!!! My suggestion: Change your attitude. Don't give substandard treatment to non-white passengers.

Flight AF 218 from Paris to Bombay, operated by an Airbus A330 with 169 passengers and 12 crew members on board, left Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport at 12:45 on 10th May and returned at 20:06 on the 10th of May, as while en-route the pilots noticed some vibrations from the Cargo hold, which could not be checked during the flight.
At Paris-Charles de Gaulle, under the supervision of competent authorities, checks were carried out on the technical state of the aircraft but no abnormalities were found.
Passengers with a valid transit visa were put up at nearby hotels for the night. Also despite the fact that transit visa�s are issued by the immigration authorities, Air France staff mediated the issuance of visa�s which turned out to be a time consuming process. Needless to say passengers were taken care of by the Air France ground staff who spoke fluent English and passengers were also provided with food and water.
All the passengers were transferred to another Air France aircraft the next day, flight AF 218A which left Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 14:15 and reached Mumbai safely. Air France regrets any and all inconvenience caused to the passengers due to this incident. At all times, the main concern of Air France is to ensure the security of passenger.
I do hope that the above explanation will help soften the negative impact of this situation and hope to have the privilege of welcoming you aboard Air France in the future, to your entire satisfaction.

Do you guys think its worthwhile to go back instead of trying waiting for the retrogression to end. From the looks of it, i doubt there is any chance of an immigration bill before the elections. if there is no bill then we will end up waiting for 8-10 years for the dates to be current.
if they remove the US masters from the quota, imagine the rush it will cause in the universities, effectively it will imply that you will get a green card after you study for 2 years in US. take a 20-40k loan and get a GC. There is no country quota for F1. i had friends who were rejected for F1 because they were 'potential immigrants' wonder how this theme will play out in future.
from this shore returning back seems to be an alternative worth considering...or maybe its just todays depression talking.
Another perspective is that if people with Masters or higher degree are exempted from the EB quota, it will in fact help in moving the priority dates current, since there are lot of people in wait who already have advanced degree from US universities and won't be using up the visa from the EB quota.

Another perspective is that if people with Masters or higher degree are exempted from the EB quota, it will in fact help in moving the priority dates current, since there are lot of people in wait who already have advanced degree from US universities and won't be using up the visa from the EB quota.

If you liked the Aussie immigration so much, how come you are back in the US and in the GC nightmare?

Don't waste time by calling National Call service center. They all are dumb !! They don't know anything. They just read the on line status of our case, which 8 year kid can do.
According to the first guy I talked to, one has already been assigned upon the start of processing of the case.
I just called again and the lady was completely clueless about the whole July 2 fiasco. I will try again in another hour and hopefully I won't get the village idiot again.
For anyone interested in calling themselves here is the info: 1-800-375-5283 options 1, 2, 3 (and possibly 6 after that-I can't remember).

Congratulations to all who will get GC now. I understand that after receiving GC you will leave this form for good. My Request is before leaving if you can contribute something then will be highly appreciated.
