We will continue with the game plan... as you noted down step by step.
Our first goal now is to have a phone meeting with leaders where we can gather up some training material, and discussion points.
We also need some information on how to approach the senators locally, and set up meetings... what should be brought up in the meeting and what should be avoided... etc...

Good post. Politics is a game of give and take. One thing legal immigrants should learn is not to distance themseves too much from the cause of illegals. If we support DREAM act, they will support SKIL bill. If we support admission bar repealed or 245(i), they will support higher numeric quotes and not counting of dependents. Think about it, our common goal is the same - to have a fair immigration system, where every desrving person has a chance to come to this country legally and with dignity.

Did you apply in EB-1? If not, then .....
I don't want to scare you, but this could be pose problems for you down the line. Check Murthy bulletin....Murthy explicitly asked USCIS to revoke this earlier decision of GC approval for a client whose PD was not current....a case very similar to yours...as they anticipated lots of issues down the line. The topic of the bulletin if i remember correctly is "when GC approval is not good news" or something.
This was a USCIS error and there's a high probability will be cought sooner or later, at which point USCIS will revoke their earlier decision.

This is great... I don't think we could have asked for anything more. numbers USA is already harping about it. But no guest worker thing makes it much less controversial.
However I think our biggest challenge is in the house. So we will have to lobby hard to the house members who are going to be in the conference.
This bill has some very good things for graduate students. And they are the most organized ones. So we can team up with student associations to mount a big grass roots campaign.

I have same question. I filed I-485+AP+EAD in July fiasco, after one year renewed I-131 (paid the fee then). I remember from that time that I do not have to pay the fee again to renew it. But in the e-file form I am not seeing option to get the waiver. Now I am doubting whether 2nd renewal is free or not?

Exactly my thoughts - we should try our level best to get one of these bills passed (Specter or Frist) with our clauses in it.
1. AC 21 clause reinstated or atleast have a fair distribution policy
2. I485 filing after a certain wait time.
If none of these bills pass this year, there is a chance we will be stuck for a long time in BEC/140 stage.

I usually don't reply to threads which waste my precious hours during the most productive time of the day. I just couldn't help observe how retarded this person is. His handle talks great about his country. WTF is he doing here? And I assume he is on H1B. Is it fair to say he was raped by some company too? By the way, the moment you start labeling people as smart and not so smart, you have underestimated something called "TALENT". No one promised that if you went to DC you are going to get your GC. Your real reason is that you are hiding under the excuses of your mind blaming the system, the people who use the system and the people who are used by the system. Do remember that you are part of the system and your actions, however futile they may get(which i doubt cuz you will be blaming the system for the next 20yrs), will still be governed by the system and not by your petty thoughts.

I know nothing about the law, but as far as I know today the democrats are trying to pass a bill in which the people living illegaly for over 2 years can apply for temporary working visa that will let their spouses work (nothing wrong with that, just the exclusion of the H-4s as spouses of temporary workers which are the only ones not allowed to work). If they do not get 60 votes today, it passes tomorrow to a compromised bill that it says that if you came to US before Jan 1, 2001 you can apply for the work permit, and the green card later and then the citizenship. If you came between 2001 and 2003 you have to go back and get a work permit and come back, and if you came after 2004 no special treatment. since nobody has included in the ammended bills the H-4s it cannot be discussed tomorrow, but I do not know what is the procedure to get a bill considered and debated, there is a bill that considers the H-4s right to work and it is called TALENT "Through the Advancement of Legal and Educated New Talent.” but who knows if it will get considered.
