I called USCIS and the representative said that, the normal turn around time for receipts is 15 days. And if we dont recieve the receipt by then, the employer can call and ask for the receipt #.
I think with the receipt number, we should be good to go.

Yes , its Free :D Anyway - lets talk with a 3rd person (maybe USCIS) and confirm. Its Free, if you read the EAD forms its clearly written that once some one pays $340 ( not other amount) it becomes FREE for ever. I just checked the EAD forms again before writing this post - let me PASTE from EAD forms if that clear the confusion.
Renewal EAD: If this is a renewal application and you
applying under one of the following categories, a filing fee
not required:
1. (a)(8) Citizen of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, or Palau;
3. (a)(11) Deferred Enforced Departure; or
2. (a)(10) Granted Withholding of Deportation;
4. (c)(l), (c)(4), or (c)(7) Dependent of certain foreign government, international organization, or NATO personnel;
5. (c)(9) or (c)(16) adjustment applicant who filed for adjustment under the fee structure implemented July 30, 2007.
I did not file for adjustment under fee structure implemented July 30, 2007:
5. (c)(9) or (c)(16) adjustment applicant who filed for adjustment under the fee structure implemented July 30, 2007.
I think, filing EAD under new fee structure and Adjustment under new fee structure are technically different.
I wish they are same. If they (USCIS) intend not taking $340 again, they should change the words.

I feel sorry for you. I sincerely request admins to reinstate you here.
Hi all, this is the new ID of bigtime007. As many has noticed, I was banned for the following reason:
You have been banned for the following reason:
Disruptive posts
Date the ban will be lifted: Never
After thinking about it, I feel very very sorry for disrupting the cheerful atmosphere on this forum. It is time for champagne, not complaints. This should be a place to congratulate and applaud IV's achievements, instead of that to express one's own frustrations. People with 07 PD has the privilege to cheer when they cut in front of us, but we should not feel sad for being pushed back because it is a disruptive behavior.
Please do not list what you have done to add items in the legislation to help BEC victims, it does not look genuine any more when it is considered disruptive to express one's depression on a board specially for BEC victims.
This will be my last post, as I am sure they will ban both my ID and IP. For everyone who still reads my post, Good luck!

Man...looks like they are working like crazy to get the EADs approved. My spouse's application: Recieved on 9th June, 08 and card production ordered on the 25th June, 08. 16 days...they are doing everything possible to save some money for USCIS(assuming the EAD they mailed is a 1 year one). I wonder why they even came up with the 2 year EAD when their plan is to do this.

I've been working with David Frenkel at Frenkel, Heshkowitz, Shafran in NY. Been with him through my H1B process and now my PERM, will continue with him. He seems very knowledgeable. He's a very very busy man though so it's a little difficult to 'talk' to him. The paralegal who worked on my PERM is reason I actually got it done...my employer is very unresponsive.
So overall I think they are good. I have called to ask questions, emailed, gone in for consultations, never charged extra. All a set fee, expensive somewhat, but it's broken in steps, like pre PERM, pre I40 etc...so guess it's almost guaranteed
ANyone else deal with them?

We would never get want we want:D
If we don't receive a notification today saying that our EAD has been approved, does that mean that we would get a 2-Year EAD card? Or do you think that they will work over the weekend? :D

HI RISKER I GOT FEW QUESTIONS. THESE QUESTIONS MAY WELL BE ASKED BY DEFENDATS(DOL) WHEN YOU FILE LAWSUIT.
1. WHY DIDNT YOU UPDATE TO PERM LABOR WHILE RETAINING PRIORITY DT
2. DID YOU CONSIDER RIR AND REGUALR CASES DIFFERENCES WHEN ARE SUEING FOR FIFO
3. DID YOU FIND PEOPLE FROM THE SAME COMPANY WITH DIFFERENT FILING DATES APPOVED NEW AHEAD OF OLD FILING DATE( THIS WOULD GIVE YOU A STRONG REASONING WHEN YOU WANT TO SUE). COMPANYS PROFILE CAN INFLUENCE A LOT ON DECISION MAKING EX.. MICROSOFT VS DESI COMPANY.
4. HOW MANY CASES YOU HAVE STUDIED FOR VIOLATION FIFO. COLLECT DATA FROM BEC APPROVED PEOPLE AND THE PEOPLE STILL STUCK THERE.
I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE THE INJUSTICE DONE BY DOL. HEY BUT BEFORE JUMPING THE GUN GET YOUR AMMUNITION READY THEN CONTACT CORE AND THEN SEE FROM THERE.....
GOOD LUCK
Hi mallikonnet,
I THINK YOU CANT RETAIN THE PRIORITY DATE WHEN YOU APPLY FOR PERM.
WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE TRADITIONAL CASES HERE FOR FILING. SOME CASES FROM THE SAME EMPLOYER WITH PD 2005 ARE TAKEN BEFORE WITH PD 2003.

Under the Fees section, it stated that if you filed your I485 on or after July 2007, and you paid the I485 fees, then no fees is required. Does that mean that I don't have to pay for the $305 for my advanced parole?
My I485 was received sept 2007, and I paid for the I485 fees, offcourse. This is something that I'm not too sure.
The filers who ever filed in July 2007 to August 15 2007 need to pay Advance parole money also.

Do you wanna know Canada a better option? Have you ever thought of missed the opportunity to apply for AINP?
Seriously I wonder how people work like this. Easy way to manage the schedule slippage is come back on scheduled deadline and just add 4 months to it. All problems solved.
Alberta, Canada - Immigration : Processing times (http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/immigrate/processingtimes.html)
Strategic Recruitment Stream processing times for U.S. Visa Holders
U.S. Visa Holder Category Processing time
Notification (pre-assessment) At least four months
Candidate assessment At least eight months
Total AINP processing time At least twelve months*
* If you have a full-time job offer from an Alberta employer in a field related to your current occupation in the U.S. you will receive priority processing.
AINP has experienced a higher than expected volume of applications in the U.S. Visa Holder Category. Because of this, priority will be given to applicants who have a valid job offer from an Alberta employer. All eligible applications will be processed, although processing times will vary significantly depending on the volume of applications received. In some cases, it may be at least 12 months before processing commences on an application without a job offer.

then why are visas about to be wasted yet again this year?
after...they said all numbers were exhausted on July 2?
i think it's not quite that simple.
there is no doubt that lack of numbers is a key key issue. but letting uscis off the hook when they have failed to process 269,000 Green Card numbers since 1994 is not kosher. that is >20% of the backlog right there.
my straightforward NIW application based on national interest service not exceptional ability (which may be more subjective) will take almost a year to process. wow....!
uscis also takes the narrowest interpretations of any law- even when it clearly conflicts with the law's intent- then it takes a lawsuit to budge them- speaking from personal experience and the loss of 4 years in PD in an India line...believe me this is not an agency i feel like defending.
just my 2c.
Hey, mine is EB2 ROW - can't get any more straightforward than that, I-140 is approved, and PD has always been current! Well, 1 year 7 month and still counting. It would be really easy for me to blame USCIS inefficiencies, but let's look at the whole picture. My second H1 was approved in 1 day (premium processing), my I-140 was approved in 9 days (not premuim processing), I got my fingerprint notice and RFE on I-485 a month after I applied - that means the case was looked at, determined what else they needed, and everything was processed. Work on my AOS case was over 4 month after applying (and I did apply concurrently). Then, I had to wait for namecheck... and wait and wait. Do I blame the processing center for that? No, it's not their fault. Do I blame Chertoff for that? Sure! He is the one who's supposed to negotiate things between DHS and FBI, and make sure things work well together.
Now, we come to a different issue - quotas. It is obvious that USCIS is not good at all at managing quotas. I am in management, and to me the task of getting within 100-200 approvals on 140,000 quota does not appear Herculean. It's a very predictive process, so theoretically it should be easy to get to right numbers. My take - USCIS system is built in a way that does not allow them to understand and manage the flow of petitions - and forecast how many will be ready for approval in any given month. That's a big flaw, but you know what is the best way to fix it - to relax quotas. Then, they would not have to triple-check every petition to make sure it's current and it is its time to be approved. Having quotas adds a lot of complexity that CIS can't manage. If you look at the immediate family petitions, that do not have quotas, they are getting approved in 3-4 month, so one part of the system works fine, and the other does not.

They have to do those work anyway. Because all the applications are not I-485 and also some ppl filed I-140 along with I-485. So, they do have to repackage those applications. Let us see,how events develops for couple of more days?.
I know and thats what I am worried about. I hope I get my packet back.
Now I wish I wouldn't have filed my 485
I am not enjoying this roller coaster ride!
